The Christian assembly that meets in the „Sonnegg“ – Chapel since August of 2011 has a history in Zurich dating back almost a hundred years. Over the previous 35 years believers had gathered at a different location in Zurich. And the assembly had been named after the street in which it was found, hence „Kanzleistrasse“. Following the same logic, the assembly is now being referred to as „Kappelle (chapel) Sonnegg“.
The tradition dates back to a spiritual movement of the early 19th century that started in Ireland and the UK and which later became known as the „Plymouth Brethren“. Extended visits of influential figures to Switzerland (John Nelson Darby, Anglo-Irish evangelist, between 1835 – 1840) and to Germany (George Ferdinand Müller, director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, in 1843 and JN Darby in 1854) helped expand the movement and its principles.
The basis for our fellowship, our gatherings as well as our personal lives is and should only be our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God, the Bible.
„But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.“
The Bible (NIV), New Testament, 2 Timothy 3, verses 14 – 17

Faith
WE BELIEVE
in the acts and the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Apostles. Those had been written down and preserved to this day. God himself had given instructions for this to human authors who were powerfully guided and directed by the Holy Spirit. This is why we see the Bible as scriptures given to us by the inspiration of God.
GOD – WHO IS HE?
„In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcomes it.“ The Bible, Gospel of John, chapter 1, verses 1-5
LOVE – WHERE CAN WE FIND IT?
„For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.“
The Bible, Gospel of John, chapter 3, verse 16
TRUTH – WHAT IS IT?
„Jesus answered, I am the way and the trutz and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.“
The Bible, Gospel of John, chapter 14, verse 6
